In 2007, Karen Mertes, a retired Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Air Force, was in a devastating crash on the highway, caused by a drunk driver. Miraculously, she survived the crash to tell the story and to make a difference by helping others who unfortunately, find themselves and/or their loved ones in a similar situation.
